You will hear it said with a ferocious repetition. Blacks Vote Democrat! Year after year, election after election, issue after issue, blacks are brainwashed into voting for democrats. Uncle Tom, house nigger, sellout, race traitor are all epithets that are applied to blacks that stray from the democrat plantation.

Since the 1970s, democrats have promised every conceivable prize in return for black support. What have blacks received in return for their support of democrats? Not much according to the available statistics. Black Americans were experiencing substantial growth in most favorable categories before the Civil Rights Act of 1964. For example, from 1954 to 1964, the number of black professionals doubled. The steady rise toward middle class of Black Americans from the 1940s to 2006 actually slowed somewhat in the 1970s, a decade in which affirmative action was strongly embraced. It seems illogical to equate black progress with affirmative action, when the pattern of progress slowed during the time affirmative action was most widely implemented.

If only democrats can help minorities then why did black unemployment drop 9 percent from 1982 to 1989 under Republican President Ronald Reagan? Why have blacks experienced the highest level of home ownership in history under Republican President George W. Bush? The answer is clear: democrats expect mediocrity from blacks while pitying them and assuming that blacks need whitey’s help at every turn. On the other hand, republicans for the most part, enact colorblind policy that leads to prosperity for everyone including Black Americans. Republican policies tend to reward hard work and accomplishment as opposed to the democrat policies that reward failure and encourage hopelessness.

For the most part, democrats have hi-jacked the civil rights issue, claiming themselves as the only proponents of equal rights. This is in stark contrast to the reality of the issue. If not for overwhelming support from republicans the Civil Rights Act of 1964 would not have passed. This is a cold, hard fact that democrats have buried under their race-baiting attacks against republicans for decades. In the House, 61% of Democrats (152 to 96) voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 while 80% of Republicans (138 to 34) voted for the Act. In the Senate, 69% of Democrats (46 to 27) voted for the Civil Rights Act while 82% of Republicans (27 to 6) voted for the Act. After the Act was passed democrat President Lyndon Johnson praised republicans for their overwhelming support.

It is amazing to me, after forty years of brainwashing by democrats, that so many young Black Americans have such a blurred view of history and of reality. As an example, consider the Three-fifths compromise. Many young people, black and white, assume that this compromise was implying that a slave was three-fifths of a human being. It is often overlooked that the main premise of this compromise was to lessen the representation of the pro-slavery south in the House of Representatives as well as giving states an incentive to free their slaves thus increasing their representation in the House. In other words, a newly freed slave, for representational purposes, would count as one as opposed to three-fifths, when electing officials to the House therefore weakening the south and their pro-slavery position.

Fortunately, things are turning around for Black Americans. Over the last decade, there has been a decrease in the percentage of blacks willing to vote democrat. Although the democrat party still receives the majority of the “African-American” vote, many young Black Americans are becoming independents or gasp, republicans.

As with every liberal myth, lie, or attack, the democrats and their cohorts in the media are relentless when falsely perpetuating that black republicans are not really black. This is strictly out of the fear of potentially losing more power. Observe the way democrats have treated Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele, J.C. Watts, and Ward Connerly. These individuals have all had hateful racist comments directed toward them at one time or another. The media, which normally “comes unglued” when the slightest critique is rendered against minority democrats, has little to say when the attack is on a black conservative or minority working for a republican. Think about this quote from liberal USA Today columnist Julianne Malveaux. On November 4, 1994 during To the Contrary on PBS, she said the following regarding Justice Clarence Thomas: “The man is on the Court. You know, I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early like many black men do, of heart disease. Well, that’s how I feel. He is an absolutely reprehensible person.” Where was the outcry regarding this outburst? This columnist said openly, on a publicly funded network, that she hopes a Justice on the Supreme Court dies. There was no major outcry from the left. She was never banished, never to be heard from again, as is the case for almost any republican that might have said something similar.

A blend of hypocrisy and fear allow democrats to overlook, ignore, and suppress outrageous statements by people in their own party and their supporters. During Black History Month, Democrat Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante said nigger instead of Negro at a speech in California before the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. There was a brief outcry but it quickly faded and all was forgiven. How many republicans would have received the same pass on this? What about the fact that democrat Senator Robert Byrd was a recruiter in the Ku Klux Klan? Senator Byrd has used the word nigger on a national news show as recently as 2001. Again, no major outcry from the “supposed” party of civil rights. Then there was Senate Minority Whip Wendell Ford, a democrat, who said, on the Jane Norris Show in 1995, “Well, I’m not nigger rich, either.” in response to the statement from a caller, that he obviously misunderstood, saying “I’m not near as rich as you, Senator.” The fear of losing the black vote keeps liberals in the media, government, and colleges on a path that includes rewriting history, covering up outlandish statements by liberals, and most importantly, painting republicans as evil, minority hating, religious nuts.

This fear is not unwarranted. If the democrats were to lose the black vote, then they would be finished as a party. This is exactly why they fight and kick at every turn, when a minority runs as a republican. It is a ticking time bomb for democrats. They will continue to lose black voters because their policies are hollow. They sound good, feel good, smell good but after decades of liberal social programs geared toward blacks, one might expect some kind of, well, positive results. Instead, many blacks are feeling a sense of hopelessness similar to many young men in the Middle East. You see, just like many impoverished people in the Middle East, when a group is told year after year that they “deserve to have”, “should have”, and “will have” a better life and this does not materialize, then somebody has to be blamed. The controlling power does not wish to feel the wrath of the people that it has wronged so as in the Middle East, it is “The Jews” and in America, it is “The Republicans”. The difference between these two groups is that what blacks have achieved is nothing less than phenomenal. Rising from slavery to highly educated, prosperous, successful people in a very short time compared to other similar examples from history around the world. The Middle East, much of which is ruled by tyrants and religious zealots, offers little when it pertains to free speech, freedom of religion, and escape from poverty.

Democrats have a vested interest in keeping blacks down thus keeping them dependent on meager handouts from democrats. These handouts translate to votes. Democrats need to portray life for blacks in America as bleak and dismal. All this is in direct conflict to the reality of the majority of Blacks Americans. There are serious problems in the black community but there are also many positives. More blacks are in college, starting small businesses, serving in political office, running large companies. As stated earlier, black homeownership is up and the more balance that is achieved between democrats, republicans, and independents will result in more opportunities for all minorities. Maybe if we all lived a little more by the words of Booker T. Washington and a little less by the words of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Louis Farrakhan, all of us could be doing a little better.

“You can’t hold a man down without staying down with him.”

“I will permit no man to narrow and degrade my soul by making me hate him.”

“If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.”

“No race can prosper till it learns that there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem.”

“Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.”

“There are two ways of exerting one’s strength: one is pushing down, the other is pulling up.”

Quotes from Booker T. Washington

Over the past 40 years, black support for Democrats has been unwavering but is that support deserved? (Stats on Black Support for Democrats) Although Democrats claim to be “Champions of Civil Rights,” it has been Republicans that have submitted and helped pass most of the early important Civil Rights legislation. (Republicans and Civil Rights) In today’s world, Republicans view African Americans as equals and do not believe blacks should be pitied or brainwashed into thinking they cannot succeed without help from others. That is the true meaning of equal rights. The media portrays Republicans as Neanderthal Closet Klansmen yet they do not implement the same policies for diversity in their own newsrooms even though predominately liberal minded individuals run those newsrooms. (Stats on Media Bias) Television has seemingly made it a policy to portray blacks as uneducated ghetto comics, sport stars, or criminals. If African Americans are wondering why some whites have a false image of blacks, they should look no further than their own TVs.

For the most part, the portrayal of blacks on television has been stereotypical. Blacks were portrayed, during the early days of television programming, as idiots on shows like Amos N’ Andy or dimwitted but loving servants on The Beulah Show. CBS refused to cancel Amos n’ Andy ignoring critics that felt the show portrayed blacks in a derogatory manner. The Nat King Cole Show aired on NBC from 1956-1957. Due to pressure from the network to play to a more white audience, Cole canceled the show prematurely. Julia, a sitcom that ran from 1968-1971 on NBC featured a widowed mother, trying to raise a son while working as a nurse. One element of the show would become a serious and frequent problem in the black community: the lack of a father as a role model and integral part of the black family. (Single Head of Household Stats) This trend continued throughout the 1970’s with What’s Happening, Good Times, and That’s My Mama all without a strong African American male influence in the form of a father. Good Times initially had John Amos as the father but eventually killed him off.

The Jeffersons had the angry, bigoted, George Jefferson spewing hateful one-liners without offering much of anything with substance. Diff’rent Strokes had Willis and Arnold, orphaned by the premature death of their housekeeper mother. Again, it is the fatherless black kid, mom works as a (fill in your favorite domestic service) theme for that show. Sanford and Son portrayed blacks as often dishonest and lazy. Fred and Grady always seemed to be looking for the path of least resistance or at least, the path of least effort. Lamont would dream of better days ahead, never quite making it, and always looking for that next get rich quick scheme that would finally make him a big shot. Webster was another example of the orphaned black kid, adopted by a rich white family concept. In 1981, television produced Gimme A Break! which gave us another black woman as a housekeeper. Remember, this show debuted in 1981, 17 years after the passage of (The Civil Rights Act of 1964) and yet all the sitcom producers could come up with was another servant role. Why doesn’t Hollywood give portraying blacks as ghetto idiots a break?

In 1984, The Cosby Show was a breakout sitcom for African Americans, showing a black nuclear family with manners, class, and dignity. While initially hesitant about the viability of the show, NBC eventually agreed to make six episodes. The show was third in the ratings during its first season and easily took first place the next four. The Cosby Show was beloved by blacks and whites, yet it and other programs like it, were not generally the types of shows that TV Executives green-lighted for production. Other shows from the 80’s with a positive image included A Different World, a Cosby spin-off about life at a historically all black university and Tim Reid’s Frank’s Place, a show that explored topics that focused on real world issues that affected blacks.

Throughout the nineties, black television regressed to the stereotypical fool roles. There were a few quality shows like ROC but many of the black stereotypes from past generations made unfortunate comebacks. In 2001, The Bernie Mac Show won over audiences with humor and common sense parenting. Unafraid to go against politically correct parenting standards imposed by people who probably shouldn’t be having kids, Bernie Mac delivered and still delivers the goods. It is interesting to note that the same people that think smoking on screen is an absolute sin and a bad influence seem to have no problem with blacks acting like complete fools on television as long as the foolishness produces high ratings.

The media, which is predominately liberal, has been no friend to Black Americans. (Liberal Media Stats) When was the last time any of the cable news outlets or ABC, NBC, CBS covered a story on a missing black child? Why is it always, with some exceptions, a blond haired, blue eyed, white girl? If the liberals in the media are so concerned with blacks, why don’t they start covering blacks the same way they cover whites? Newsrooms across the country could show the good, the bad, and the ugly side of Black America not just black athletes, rappers, and criminals. What is also a concern is the bigoted portrayal of blacks and Affirmative Action. One might get the idea that blacks are completely stupid and just cannot make it without whitey even though there are highly intelligent black professionals in every industry. The media along with their partners in The Democrat Party seem to be more concerned with keeping blacks down and maintaining a voting block then allowing blacks to prosper and possibly vote for someone other than a Democrat. Consider some of these facts. According to the book, The Black Image in the White Mind: Media and Race in America reported that black criminals are four times as likely to have their mug shot shown on TV than white criminals are. Black defendants are shown being restrained twice as many times as white defendants.

According to sampled newscasts in the previously mentioned book, the number of sound bites on foreign affairs by whites was 99 while only 1 was by an African American. The number of sound bites on economics by whites was 86 and while only 1 was by an African American. The number of sound bites on electoral politics by whites was 79 while African Americans had none. The number of sound bites on sports and entertainment by whites was 35 and 11 by African Americans. The number of sound bites on crime by whites was 149 while 24 were by African Americans. It is obvious from these statistics that blacks are considered more qualified to report on entertainment and/or crime and not as qualified to speak about foreign affairs, economics, and politics.

The hiring practices of the media are suspect as well. According to the 2003 RTNDA/Ball State University Annual Survey, in the Broadcast News Workforce, Caucasians represented 81.9% and African Americans represented 8.4% down from 10.1% in 1994. The same study also noted that the overall minority workforce in broadcasting had dropped 18% in 9 years with only women making strong gains. Black Broadcast News Directors also showed a decline in 2003 and made up less than 1% of overall Broadcast News Directors. Minority General Managers for all television stations with news departments came in at a miniscule 3.6%. Minority News Directors for Local Television represented a meager 6.6%. Compare that to 18.1% of minorities in the Broadcast News Workforce. Apparently, the media feels it is OK to chastise corporations about diversity but does not hold itself to the same philosophy.

I challenge television and the mainstream media to stop stereotyping blacks and to make their newsrooms colorblind. There is no reason why one of the most liberal industries on the planet should have such a lousy record of accomplishment. With the pathetic state of television and journalism, adding qualified minorities to key positions can only improve things. If these ideas are not seriously addressed, Hollywood, TV, and Network News will continue to see their ratings slide.

On July 10th 2005, Julian Bond, Chairman of the NAACP, ripped into conservatives and reiterated his belief in conspiracy theories. During the 96th Annual NAACP National Convention in Milwaukee, he spoke of a “new racist ideology” and was also quoted saying “They have successfully promoted deeply flawed economic and foreign policies. They have passed tax cuts that were not only unfair but unaffordable.” Hmm, I wonder to whom Mr. Bond is referring. Let’s see, tax cuts and economic/foreign policy. Ding-Ding-Ding! How about Republicans and especially George W. Bush. Yes, that’s correct. Tell him what he’s won, Johnny. You would think that a Democrat Mouthpiece that gave us Jimmy Carter would not be so critical of foreign or domestic policy considering Carter ran the country into the ground and let Iran slip into the hands of Muslim Fanatics during his 4 years of glory. The Chairman went further saying conservative lawmakers have “restricted access to the courts, capped damages for even the most egregious practices, eviscerated class action lawsuits, and not coincidentally, shielded industry after industry from legal scrutiny.” Does anyone on this planet think we have too few class action lawsuits? Transcript of Julian Bond’s Speech

As for the conspiracy theory part, Mr. Bond said, “Anyone who claims that voting rights for minority Americans are now secure need only look to Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004…” These statements are simply misleading, implying that there is somehow a conspiracy against blacks by Republicans. It is irresponsible to make such claims. The 2000 election recount and voting procedures in Florida were examined by two independent agencies and several news agencies including The New York Times. George Bush won the recount and there was no Republican conspiracy against blacks. The best the Liberal Media and The NAACP can do is keep mentioning a Republican Conspiracy and hope it sticks.

Earlier in the event, Bond remarked that The President had not spoken to the NAACP for five years. Bond also directed a statement towards President Bush saying, “We want to see you and we want you to see us – we want to know you think you’re our president too.” This is laughable, considering NAACP officials have referred to Bush as an illegal president as recently as 2004. Some of his extreme comments include these gems: According to 2004 article by Mary Jacoby of Salon.com, NAACP head Julian Bond says the GOP is going all out to suppress the black vote. During the NAACP 94th Annual Convention, Bond quipped that Republicans appeal “to the dark underside of American culture, to that minority of Americans who reject democracy and equality.” He also said, “Their idea of equal rights is the American flag and Confederate swastika flying side by side.” In a 2001 speech, Bond compared conservatives to the Taliban. Why would Bush attend an NAACP event when they are so hostile towards him? The Washington Times Article

Former Secretary of Education, Rod Paige had this to say about the NAACP in his Op-ed piece from July 15, 2004: “In particular, Mr. Bond and Mr. Mfume have done a great disservice to our organization, and to the founders of the civil-rights movement, with their hateful and untruthful rhetoric about Republicans and President Bush. How ironic that they would direct this vitriol at a president who has appointed more African Americans to high-profile posts, has committed more funds to fight AIDS in Africa, has championed minority homeownership, and has supported more trade and aid for African and Caribbean nations than any other administration.” Mr. Paige is the first African-American appointed Secretary of Education. Op-ed by Rod Paige

I think Julian Bond is wrong about Bush and wrong about Republicans. His ilk make a living being divisive and exaggerating racism to further their cause, which is staying in power and drumming up support for Democrats. He ignores the solid history of Republicans regarding Civil Rights. He claims to be non-partisan but remember, The NAACP funded the 2000 Election commercial trying to link Bush to the dragging death of James Byrd, a black man.

The NAACP web site probably says it best: Making Democracy Work Since 1909. You see, they don’t “Allow Democracy to Work,” they “Make It Work,” and they do it with an Iron Fist. NAACP Web Site

On June 26, 2005, The Associated Press published an article about Atlanta’s panhandler problem that once again illustrates that blacks can be used to defend any position. If there is ever an abundance of African-American serial killers, I assume that many on the left will also defend them to the grave. No pun intended. However, what really gets me is the way liberals use social programs to maintain a voting block of dependant, so-called victims. Democrats help keep stereotypes alive by perpetuating that blacks are stupid and need our help, that Asians are super human geniuses that need no assistance, and that white people are secretly scheming to hurt all minority groups. In Atlanta, the City Council is considering a measure to crack down on aggressive panhandling. As usual, the same talking points are marched out to defend the panhandlers, many of whom are black. (Read Article on Panhandling)

My opinion on this is that many blacks perceive anything that happens to blacks as racist. When stats show that blacks disproportionately represent victims of crime, black activist rise up and say, see we told you “White Racism”, “Jim Crow”, “Modern Day Lynching”, and “Whitey is out to get us”. Never mind that black on black violence is the main cause of the high representation. After all, why let facts get in the way of a good rant.

The majority of blacks still think OJ was not guilty. As pointed out by Larry Elder, blacks perceive higher amounts of racism against Hispanics than Hispanics do. Blacks see racism everywhere. When blacks do not receive a loan from a bank, it is, as the media often reports, because of racism. It is never mentioned that a higher percentage of blacks have poor credit ratings and that would factor into the loan process. Think about it, a bank needs to loan money to make money. Banks don’t turn away people that will make them money.

On TV when The Cosbys was a #1 show, many blacks did not like it because it supposedly did not represent the “real black image”. When TV produces a show that portrays blacks living in a ghetto or in less than ideal conditions, blacks do not like this because it is demeaning to blacks. TV producers just cannot win. Will Smith, a well spoken, mainstream young man, suggested to Barbara Walters, that scientists created AIDS to kill black people. Many blacks think that The CIA implemented a Crack Cocaine epidemic that has ruined some black neighborhoods.

Racism against panhandlers just seems like the latest in black paranoia. I hope Atlanta enjoys becoming a cesspool. All they have to do is look at San Francisco to see their future.
